\"Waterbury-Welcome-A\"<\/a>On Tuesday, workers at the new Waterbury State Office Complex had an opportunity to meet local businesses, sample their products, receive special offers and incentives, and enjoy cake at a \u201cWelcome to the Neighborhood\u201d party and business fair. Of the over 850 employees at the Complex, approximately 450 of them are new to working in the Waterbury area while the remaining have returned to the rebuilt campus over the past four months. Featuring over 40 local vendors, the business fair was a nice venue to introduce State employees to the many businesses and amenities readily available to them.<\/p>\n

The event, which was co-hosted by Revitalizing Waterbury and PC Construction, was successful in bringing the State employees and businesses together. More than 300 employees filtered through St. Leo\u2019s Hall over the span of four hours. As one state worker headed back to the office she told us that she enjoyed it so much that it should become a weekly event!<\/p>\n

PC Construction began work on the complex in August of 2013, which included a new 86,000-square-foot office building, a new 20,000-square-foot central plant and maintenance facility, and new site infrastructure as well as the historic renovation of the original 13 core buildings comprising 115,000-square-feet. Given its location on the banks of the Winooski River and the damage wrought by Irene, reducing flood risk was a primary emphasis of the project. Nineteen flood-prone buildings were removed, new and renovated facilities were elevated, and all occupied areas of new and renovated construction are above the 500-year-flood level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
