Today in a check presentation at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, PC Construction announced the three recipients of donations totaling $15,000 as part of the company\u2019s \u201cBuilding Communities: PC Construction Gives Back\u201d contest. This is the sixth year of the company\u2019s crowdsourced giving program that has resulted in over $100,000 in donations.<\/p>\n
The first-place winner, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta in South Hero, Vermont, received a $10,000 donation. The second-place winner, SAFEchild of North Carolina, received $3,000 and Atlanta Children\u2019s Shelter of Georgia received $2,000 as the third-place winner.<\/p>\n
The seven other nonprofits chosen by PC Construction employee-owners to participate in the contest included: Baltimore Child Abuse Center, Maryland; CHRISkids, Georgia; Cross Roads House, New Hampshire; Day One, Maine; For Kids, Virginia; King S\u00a0\u00a0treet Youth Center, Vermont; and Preble Street Resource Center, Maine.<\/p>\n
Megan, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 7, enthusiastically accepted the donation on behalf of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta. She has been in remission for over five years and is excited to start her eighth year as a Camp Ta-Kum-Ta camper. Following the official check presentation, the PC Construction team was treated to a tour and a very personal glimpse at the amazing experiences campers have during both the week-long summer camp and the year-round program. A place where more than 250 children can just be \u201ckids\u201d not \u201ckids with cancer,\u201d Camp Ta-Kum-Ta provides a fun atmosphere that fosters life-long friendships and memories, all made possible by its dedicated and passionate corp of 120 volunteers ranging from camp counselors to pediatric oncology nurses.<\/p>\n
