Although construction just completed last month, the five-story, 58-unit building is already 80% subscribed with 46 apartments currently occupied.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing an audience comprising local officials, board members, project partners and staff, The Park Danforth\u2019s CEO Denise Vachon noted the new facility provides \u201ccomfortable, safe, secure\u201d housing for residents and marks \u201canother stage of growth in our long history here.\u201d Founded in 1881 as the Mercantile Home for Aged Men, The Park Danforth has transformed greatly during its 136-year existence. Vachon has led the charge \u2013 including overseeing multiple expansions \u2013 for the past 33 years.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the 58 new one- and two-bedroom apartments, the project also includes a rooftop deck; new underground and surface parking; and a new connector that links to the existing main building and contains a theater, auditorium, board room and two multipurpose rooms, including one specifically designed for creative work in various art media.
