KHS is the third and final facility to be rehabilitated and expanded under a multi-year contract with Regional School Unit (RSU) 21. Similar efforts at Mildred L. Day Elementary School in Arundel ($8.6 million) and Kennebunkport Elementary School ($5.1 million) were completed last year. All three projects were designed by Harriman, with PC Construction serving as construction manager.<\/p>\n<p>Following the tour, PC Construction Project Manager Tim Sommers and Harriman Architect Tony Roy hosted a presentation detailing the numerous challenges the design and construction team has surmounted on each project. While the individual schools have their own specific issues, common threads of budget constraints, working within occupied facilities and less-than-ideal site conditions permeated the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Another common theme was praise for the collaborative team effort that has made the three-school project such a resounding success. \u201cHarriman and PC work together to problem-solve so it doesn\u2019t end up costing the owner money, which is important to us and the taxpayers,\u201d remarked RSU 21\u2019s Kevin Crowley.
