The garage will accommodate 504 vehicles and support the Career &amp; Student Success Center and Residence Hall facilities also currently under construction by PC in Portland, Maine.<\/p>\n<p>USM President Glen Cummings, Chief Business Officer Alec Porteous and Director of Sustainability Aaron Witham spoke about the importance of this parking garage in the University\u2019s vision to expand the Portland campus in the most sustainable way. A focus for this project is making the new garage ecofriendly to reduce USM\u2019s carbon footprint. Sustainability efforts include 58 vehicle charging stations and 250 secure bike parking areas.<\/p>\n<p>The garage, which is designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desman.com\/\">Desman Design Management<\/a>, will serve as the primary entrance to both the new and adjacent existing campus parking facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday was a perfect sunny backdrop for the University of Southern Maine to break ground for the new four-level parking garage on their Portland, Maine campus.
